, Wednesday, 2 August 2023 (10:59 IST)
Keeping in view the violence in some districts of Haryana bordering Delhi, elaborate security arrangements have been made at all sensitive places in Delhi and additional police forces have also been deployed where necessary.

“Any attempt to harm Delhi's security and communal harmony will be dealt with strictly,” Delhi Police said.

Communal clashes that broke out in Haryana’s Nuh on Monday afternoon with an attack on a religious procession spread to Gurugram, leading to a series of clashes on Tuesday.  Several shops and shanties next to a residential complex were set on fire.

Authorities imposed prohibitory orders across the district, including a ban on the sale of loose petrol or diesel.

"Six people including two Home Guards and four civilians have died in the incident. 116 people have been arrested till now. Their remand is being taken. Those found guilty will not be spared. We are committed to the safety of the public. The overall situation in the state is normal. Appeal to the public to maintain peace, calm and brotherhood," says Haryana CM ML Khattar on Nuh violence.

"All schools, colleges and workplaces are functioning normally. There are no restrictions on the movement of traffic. The internet is also operational. I appeal to all to not pay heed to rumours on social media. If anyone wants to report any information, they can reach helpline number '112', "says ACP Varun Dahiya (Crime), Gurugram.
