New Delhi: AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday in connection with the alleged irregularities in appointments in the Delhi Waqf Board case.
He was taken into custody hours after the ED team landed at his house in the morning in connection with the probe.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan in a video message posted on X, “It is 7 AM right now. ED has come to my residence to arrest me in the name of a search warrant. My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with cancer. She had an operation four days ago. She is also at my house. I have written to them (ED) and I have replied to every notice.”
“For the last two years, these people have been harassing me, and filing fake cases against me. Every day, they are creating some or the other problem for not only me but my entire party,” he claimed.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh also criticised the agency alleging that despite repeated reprimands from the Supreme Court for fair investigations, ED reached the residence of Amanatullah Khan.
“Just before the elections in Delhi, ED is being used as weapon by the BJP to disrupt the atmosphere,” he said.
