Foursome gets death sentence in 2008 Jaipur bomb blast case

Jaipur: A special court here on Friday awarded death penalty to all the four convicted in 2008 Jaipur serial blasts case in which 71 persons were killed while 200 injured.Special Judge Ajay Sharma awarded capital punishment to Mohammed Saif, Mohammed Sarwar Azmi, Saifur Rehman and Mohammed Salman who were convicted by the court on Wednesday.  
All the the four persons were convicted under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Act.
 
A series of blasts rocked the pink city on May 13, 2008, killing 71 persons and leaving about 200 injured. The blast took place in eight locations which were situated within a 2-km radius.
After the verdict, the advocate for the accused Paker Farooq alleged that the verdict was given under the pressure of media and the prevailing atmosphere in the country.
 
The advocate had argued that one of the convict--Salman-- was a minor at the time of the crime, which was not considered by the special court.

The eight locations targeted in the series of blasts were the Manak Chowk police station, Badi Chaupad, Kotwali police station, Tripoliya Bazaar, Chandpole Hanuman temple, National Handloom in Johari Bazaar, Chhoti Chaupad and Sanganeri Gate Hanuman temple.
