Godhra verdict: Death sentence of 11 accused commuted to life imprisonment

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Monday commuted the death sentence of 11 accused to life imprisonment in the 2002 Godhra train burning coach case. A bench, comprising Gujarat High Court Justices AS Dave and GR Udhwani commuted the death sentence to life imprisonment.

It has also upheld life sentence to 20 others convicts and acquittal of 63 people. The bench has also ordered Gujarat Government and Railways to provide compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased. (UNI)
