Govt proposes to put farm laws on hold for 1.5 years, next round of talks on Jan 22

New Delhi:The tenth round of talks between the Government and farmers' unions concluded on Wednesday evening, with the Government proposing to put the farm laws on hold for one-and-a-half years.
Both sides have agreed to meet for the next round of talks on January 22.Talking to reporters after the marathon meeting, which concluded after five hours, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, 'During the talks, we said the Government is ready to put on hold the farm laws for one-and-a-half year.'
 
Mr Tomar said that he was happy that farmer unions have taken this proposal very seriously and said that they would consider it tomorrow and convey their decision on January 22.
 
The Minister said he hoped that talks were progressing in the right direction and there was a possibility of finding a solution on January 22.He said the eleventh round of talks will be held on Friday at 1200 hrs.(UNI)
