Gradual surge in active nCOV cases continues, 13k in past 24 hrs

New Delhi:India on Saturday recorded 13,993 fresh COVID-19 infections during the past 24 hours, pushing the country's caseload to 1,09,77,387, while the death toll mounted to 1,56,212 with 101 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases stand at 1,43,127. It is 1.30 per cent of the total caseload.Of the fresh fatalities, 44 were from Maharashtra, 15 from Kerala, 8 from Punjab, 7 from Tamil Nadu, 5 from Karnataka and 3 from Chhattisgarh.
 
In the past 24 hours, 10,307 people recovered from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,06,78,048, which is 97.27 percent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.42 per cent. Kerala has reported the maximum number of single day recoveries with 4,854 newly recovered cases while 2,159 recovered in Maharashtra in the past 24 hours.
 
According to the Health Ministry, 18 States/UTs have not reported any death in the last 24 hours.The number of people who got vaccinated under the nation's vaccination drive commenced on January 16 has reached 1,07,15,204, with 5,27,197 more people getting vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
 
Globally, the disease has infected 5,27,197, as per the John Hopkins University coronavirus tracker.(UNI)
