Mumbai: A Sessions Court here on Wednesday granted bail to Independent lawmakers and couple Navneet and Ravi Rana following their arrest for alleged breach of communal harmony and sedition due to their plans to chant "Hanuman Chalisa" outside the personal residence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
While granting bail the court directed them to furnish sureties of Rs 50,000 each.
The court have imposed various conditions on MP Navneet and her MLA husband, including they shall not speak to the media related to the issue and also not hamper with investigation and try influence witnesses. They were further directed not to commit any offence while out on bail.
The Mumbai court on Sunday had sent the Ranas to judicial custody till May 6. The couple was arrested on April 23 for allegedly "creating enmity between different groups" over their threats to recite the verses from "Hanuman Chalisa" outside "Matoshree", a revered building for the Shiv Sena party.
