Shimla: Himachal's Kullu administration has issued an alert to residents of Kullu district due to rising water levels in the Beas, Parvati, and Tirthan rivers after extremely heavy monsoon rain Wednesday night.
People from all the areas on the river bank, including Jiya and Bhuntar, have been urged to vacate their houses and come to a safe place as flood dams may burst along these rivers as the water level in the Beas and Tirthan rivers has also increased.
Malana Forest and Malana Two Power Project have suffered heavy damage as a result of a cloudburst during heavy rainfall in Malana Nallah.
Due to excessive rainfall, the water level of the Parvati River has also risen above the danger mark.
Everyone has been encouraged to stay in safe places away from rivers and drains.
Entire Kullu district, parts of Shimla, and Mandi around five rivers and rivulets caused fury, and tolls and casualties could rise.
Due to overnight rain and the closing down of link roads to affected areas, rescue operations were hammered, but local villagers reported launching relief and rescue operations at the community level.
Entire flood-affected areas are not only topographically frigid and poorly linked with rivers, but they are also scattered in three districts that are not interlinked with roads.
