Honeypreet under police custody for six days

Panchkula: Haryana police on Wednesday produced Honeypreet Insan alias Priyanka Taneja, adopted daughter of jailed Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, in a court and sought her 14-day remand to probe her role on August 25 in inciting violence in Panchkula. At around 0200 hrs, the police conducted medical examination of Honeypreet and her accomplice Sukhpreet Kaur at General Hospital in Panchkula . She was sent for a police custody for six days.

Special Investigation Team and women police officials quizzed Honeypreet for several hours at the Chandimandir police station. Honeypreet was given medical treatment after she complained of chest pain and migraine. Panchkula Police Commissioner A S Chawla said that during interrogation, she has not divulged much.

The Haryana Police arrested Honeypreet near Zirakpur in Punjab on Tuesday. Honeypreet has been charged with sedition and hatching the 'escape plan' of Gurmeet Ram Rahim after his conviction in two rape cases. She has also been accused of inciting Dera followers on Augusrt 25 for violence after the sect head was convicted by a special Central Bureau of Investigation court. Haryana Police had also issued a lookout notice against her and four others. (UNI)
