IAF chopper crash: Group Captain Varun Singh cremated with full military honours

Bhopal: Shaurya Chakra-recipient Indian Air Force Group Captain Varun Singh was cremated with full military honours on Friday at the Bairagarh crematorium on the Madhya Pradesh capital’s outskirts.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, several ministers and thousands of other citizens bade a tearful adieu to the officer who was fatally injured on December 8 in the Mi-17V-5 helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu that claimed the lives of India’s first Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his spouse Mrs Madhulika Rawat and 11 personnel.

The pyre was lit by the deceased’s minor son Ridhiman. (UNI)
