Jammu and Kashmir: SPO takes lift in a car, driver later flees with his official AK-47

Jammu: Police on Wednesday nabbed a man who fled with the official Ak-47 rifle of a Special Police Officer (SPO) in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
Police said that after a night-long search operation, a man identified as Mohammad Rafi, a resident of Trown near Pranoo, was taken into custody from a nearby village.
 
Rafi on Tuesday fled with the official weapon of an SPO Safdar Hussain, who had taken a lift in his car, When Hussain stepped out to buy a water bottle at Pull Doda leaving the weapon in the car, Rafi drove out of sight.
 
"The vehicle was recovered near the Jagota area of Bhalla, and searches were launched," said a senior police officer.
 
"He (Rafi) has been apprehended, and a weapon has also been recovered while the motive behind this act is being investigated," the officer said.
