New Delhi: Janta Dal (United) on Wednesday sacked senior leaders Pawan Varma and Prashan Kishor from the primary membership of the Party for their anti- party activities, JD(U)  General Secretary and Spokesperson KC  Tyagi said here.

Both leaders has recently questioned certain decisions taken by the party leadership.

The public spat between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prashant Kishor has come amid a heated campaign for the Delhi Assembly elections in which the two are on the opposing sides. While Kishor is handling the campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, JD(U)  has forged an alliance with the BJP to contest on two seats.

Kumar has also exchanged sharp words with Varma who had openly opposed the party’s official stand on CAA as well as the alliance in Delhi. After Varma wrote an open letter asking Kumar to reconsider his position, the party chief had said he was free to leave the outfit.

The decision to sack both leaders came after the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday indicated that leaders were free to exit the party and speculated that their remarks had something to do with their future plans outside the JDU.

Prashan Kishor had joined JD(U) in 2018 and soon he was made Vice President of the party. He was considered number two in the party for long due to his close proximity of Mr Kumar. (UNI)
