Srinagar: Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) chief Khalid Bhai was killed on Monday afternoon in a brief encounter with the security forces in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muneer Khan told UNI that following specific information about movements of a militant, a check point was established at Ladoora in Baramulla. He said a militant was intercepted at the checkpoint, who hurled a grenade at the police party deployed there.

However, he said the grenade didn’t explode following which the militant fired at the police personnel with a pistol and ran into a house. The IGP said the security force retaliated in which the militant was killed. “The militant has been identified as JeM operational chief Khalid Bhai, a resident of Pakistan,” he added. (UNI)
