Kanjhawala accident: Victim was not alone on scooty, another woman was with her: Delhi Police

New Delhi: In a major development in the Kanjhawala road accident case, the Delhi Police found that Anjali (20) was not alone on the scooty when the incident happened. Another girl was also present with her when the scooty was hit by the car.
 
“When we traced the route of the deceased, it was found that she wasn’t alone on her scooty. A girl was with her at the time of the accident. She suffered injuries and fled from the spot but the deceased’s legs got stuck in the car, after which she was dragged,” said Delhi Police.
 
According to the police, following the accident, the other woman who suffered minor injuries left the spot for her home.
 
The girl has been traced by police and her statement will be recorded on Tuesday, the police said.
 
Multiple teams have been engaged in the investigation of Kanjhawala case wherein a 20-year-old girl died after she was allegedly hit and dragged by a car over 10-12 kms from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala area, police said on Monday.
 
The Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a detailed inquiry report into the Kanjhawala incident from Delhi Police, sources said.
 
Delhi Police have got three days police custody of all the five accused for further investigation. The CCTVs footage was being collected to examine them, said Hooda.
 
“A request has been made to the health department of Delhi government to constitute a medical board to conduct the postmortem examination of the deceased girl,” Harendra Kumar Singh, DCP Outer Delhi said in a video message.
 
Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women Chief Swati Maliwal on Monday raised several questions to Delhi Police in the Kanjhawala case.
 
DCW issued summons to Delhi Police on Sunday and asked them to appear before the Commission for the purpose on January 5 and provide details, the statement stated. (Inputs from agencies)
