Yadgir: The political theatre in Karnataka witnessed a storm as Minister for Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises, Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, ignited controversy with his remarks questioning the silence of BJP and JDS leaders on the demand for the encounter of Prajwal Revanna.

In his address to reporters here on Wednesday, Darshanapur raised eyebrows as he drew a parallel between the reactions of political leaders to recent events.

He questioned, "The BJP and JDS leaders vehemently demanded the encounter of the accused in MCA student Neha Hiremath case. Where are the BJP and JDS leaders now? Why are they not demanding the encounter of Prajwal Revanna? Is justice different for a common man and a big person?"

Darshanapur alleged that Prajwal, a key figure in the scandal, had conveniently shifted blame onto others, stating, "Who released these videos? How many videos of women have been taken? Did Prajwal Revanna take sex videos after consulting DyCM DK Shivakumar? Has Shivakumar asked him to record sex videos of women? Or Shivakumar himself had taken videos?"

These remarks come in the wake of allegations implicating Shivakumar in the distribution of obscene content. The JDS has accused Shivakumar of orchestrating the dissemination of more than 25,000 pen drives in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, where Prajwal is the NDA candidate.

Former CM Kumaraswamy, also the state chief of JDS, has pointed fingers at Shivakumar, branding him as the mastermind behind the scandal.

The developments have intensified the political tussle in Karnataka, with allegations and counter-allegations flying between parties, further muddying the waters ahead of the upcoming elections.
