Kochi: A police case was filed against Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday over his remarks on the multiple blasts that happened at a prayer hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in this city on Sunday morning.
The Cyber Cell of Kochi Police registered cases under Section 120 for violating public order, Section 153 (provocation for rioting), and Section 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups).
The FIR says the Union Minister has made provocative remarks on social media following the blasts, hinting at Palestinian group Hamas and spreading it through videos and text messages with an intention to create a communal divide among people.
Meanwhile, a war of words erupted between Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Union Minister over the multiple blasts in Kochi. The Chief Minister criticised the Union Minister, alleging that he was 'spitting venom' and aiming to create a communal divide. (UNI)
