New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to give a date for hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking transfer of the cases over the hijab row from the Karnataka High Court to itself.

A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana said: "Let the High Court decide first, then we may see it."

Senior lawyer Kapil Sibal mentioned the matter and requested the apex court to list the matter urgently and said that what is happening in Karnataka was spreading in the entire country.

The Chief Justice, however, said: "Please wait. Let the Karnataka High Court decide the matter first as they are hearing the matter today."

Sibal said schools and colleges were closed in Karnataka and girls were being stoned, so the Supreme Court must hear the case. (UNI)
