LeT militant killed as police repulses attack on picket in Anantnag

Srinagar:  Alert police guards foiled an attack on a picket and killed a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in Anantnag district in the wee hours on Saturday, a police spokesman said.
He said the militants attacked a police picket at Achabal in Anantnag which was successfully repulsed by the alert jawans on duty. 
In the retaliatory action, a militant was killed , he said.Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant, who was identified Bilal Ahmad, a resident of Tatripora, Yaripora in Kulgam district, the spokesperson added.. 
 
Bilal had joined  LeT three months before. His involvement was also established in a weapon snatching case earlier. He was involved in carrying out militant attacks on the security forces and civilian atrocities in the area.He said a jawan was also injured in the encounter who has been evacuated to a nearby hospital.
 
From the spot, two cars have been also seized by police, which were apparently used by the militants. Police have registered a case in this regard and investigation in the matter is in progress.(UNI)
