Maharashtra: 12 Naxalites killed in encounter in Gadchiroli

Mumbai: At least 12 Naxalites were killed and two security personnel were injured on Wednesday in an encounter in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, near the Chhattisgarh border, a police official said.
 
According to Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Nilotpal, the exchange of fire broke out in the afternoon between C60 commandos and Naxals in Wandoli village that lasted for around six hours.
 
Till now, dead bodies of 12 Maoists have been recovered, police said.
 
Seven automotive weapons, including 3 AK47, have been recovered, a police official said.
 
He also said that Maoist Laxman Atram alias Vishal Atram, incharge of Tipagad Dalam, was among the dead Maoists.
