Mahendragarh: 6 children die, 20 injured as drunk driver rams school bus into tree (VIDEO)

Mahendragarh: A school bus overturned near Unhani village of Kanina in Mahendergarh district of Haryana on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of six children and serious injuries of 20 others.
 
The bus, belonging to the private school GL Public School, was carrying around 40 children, as per the information provided.
 
A school function was held on Thursday, even on a public holiday, and a bus was sent to pick up the children.
 
After receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation, resulting in the injured children being taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

According to police information, the reason behind the accident is said to be overtaking. The seriously injured children have been referred to Rewari Hospital.
 
According to the information, the bus driver was drunk. The police took the bus driver into custody and took him to Mahendergarh Civil Hospital for treatment.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has expressed grief over the incident. He wrote on "X" : My sympathies are with grief stricken families who have lost their children."
 
He also said that local administration was there to help the injured.
