Mahesh Manjrekar to direct the biopic of 'Veer Savarkar'

On the 128th Anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Producer Sandeep Singh has announced to produce a biopic on the freedom fighter titled "Swatantryaveer Savarkar".Sandeep also announced that he has possessed all the rights to showcase the story of Savarkar in form of a movie.
Sandeep stated "Savarkar is not only hailed but also get slammed by the present generation. He is portrayed as a polarizing personality, but I think it is due to the misconception about him."
 
He added "No one can deny that he has been a cardinal part of our freedom struggle and we are making efforts to display his journey of life to the audience." 
 
Mahesh Manjrekar said, "I always had high regard for Veer Savarkar and his life. He has been underrated in the history books which denied him the respect he deserves. His life must have touched a lot of life. It is a daunting task for a director but I take it as a challenge."
 
Swatantryaveer Savarkar will be shot in Andaman, London and Maharashtra. This movie will give present a different side of India's freedom struggle and its history. Filmmakers claim that after the audience witnesses the struggles of Veer Savarkar on celluloid it will completely change their mindset. 
 
Notably, Veer Savarkar played a vital role in India's freedom struggle and he was a member of Hindu Mahasabha. Even after 55 years of his demise, Savarakar remains a debatable topic among different political spectrums. (WD)
