Marriage affected by 'use & throw' culture, young generation thinks wife is 'Worry Invited For Ever': Kerala High Court

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has expressed concerns over the rising number of divorce cases and live-in relationships among youngsters in the state.

In a recent judgment, a Division Bench of Justice A Muhammed Mustaque and Justice Sophy Thomas observed that the consumerist culture of "use and throw" has affected matrimonial relationships.

"Nowadays, the young generation avoid matrimonial relationship to enjoy free life without any obligation.

"The young generation break the nuptial tie on flimsy or selfish reasons or for extra-marital relationships, even unmindful of their children," the court said while dealing with a matrimonial appeal filed by a husband seeking divorce in a family court in Alappuzha.

Pointing out the degradation of values among young generation, the court observed that the old concept of 'Wise Investment For Ever' (WIFE) is replaced by a new concept of 'Worry Invited For Ever' by them to enjoy extra-marital relationships. (UNI)
