Noida shooting range to be named on Shooter Dadi

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced to name the shooting range in Noida on ' Shooter Dadi.'He said the shooting range established in Noida will be known as Chandro Tomar shooting range.

"Renowned shooter 'Chandro Tomar ji' is a unique symbol of vitality and women empowerment. Recently, she passed away. This is an effort in continuation of the "Mission Shakti" campaign of the Uttar Pradesh government, saluting the mother power. Naming the shooting range after her will prove to be an inspiration for the youth," the CM said, during his Team 9 meeting here on Tuesday.

Chandro Tomar, popularly known as Shooter dadi, was an octogenarian sharpshooter from the village of Johri in the Bagpat district. Since learning to shoot in 1999 when she was already in her 60s, she had attained national fame as an accomplished shooter, having won more than 30 national championships.She died at the age of 89 due to Covid-19 on April 30 last.(UNI)
