Srinagar: National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday declared that his son and party Vice President Omar Abdullah will be the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Omar Abdullah would be the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir”, National Conference President Farooq told media persons at his Gupkar residence.
He said people have given their verdict and proven what the central government did on August 5, 2019, was "not acceptable" to them.
Replying to a question, Farooq said “More work has to be done to eradicate the difficulties of the people including unemployment, inflation and drug menace among the youth”.
Asked whether the political situation would change in Jammu and Kashmir now, Farooq said “obviously… There would not be a Lieutenant Governor and his four advisors alone.. The 90 assembly members will now redress the grievances of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”.
Farooq said he is thankful to everyone. "The people participated in the elections independently and freely and the verdict is in front of us".
Meanwhile, the National Conference workers celebrated their party's win in the elections and distributed sweets at the residence of president at Gupkar Road here.
