Over 2.33 lakh crore outlaid for Health sector: FM Sitharman

New Delhi:Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said that over 2.33 lakh crore will be outlaid for the health sector.
While presenting the Budget for the financial year 2021-22, the Finance Minister also said that India has two COVID-19 vaccines and two more will be launched. She informed that Rs 35,000 cr will be spent on COVID vaccines.
 
Ms Sitharaman said that a new centrally sponsored scheme PM Aatmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana will be launched with an outlay of Rs 64,180 crore over 6 years to develop capacities of health care systems, develop institutions for detection and cure of new and emerging disease.
 
Budget 2021-22 based on six pillars from health to governance: Sitharaman
 
New Delhi: Union Budget 2021-22 is based on six pillars from health to governance, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said while presenting the Budget in the Lok Sabha.
 
The main pillars she listed were health and well-being, physical, financial capital and infrastructure, inclusive development for aspirational India, reinvigorating human capital, innovation and research and development and minimum government and maximum governance.
 
Ms Sitharaman said over 2.33 lakh crore will be outlaid for the health sector and Rs 35,000 cr will be spent on COVID vaccines.India has two COVID-19 vaccines and two more will be soon launched, she said.

This is the first Budget to be presented in the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic which has created havoc both on health and wealth. All sectors of the economy have been severely affected by the pandemic and looking for relief.
 
It is also the third consecutive Budget to be presented by Ms Sitharaman. Her maiden Budget presentation was in July 2019 when she was appointed as the Union Finance Minister after the National Democratic Alliance government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi won the Lok Sabha elections in May 2019 for the second time.
 
Ms Sitharaman again carried "Bahi-Khata", a traditional ledger of records, instead of a colonial briefcase to present General Budget in Parliament.(UNI)
