Jammu: An Army jawan was martyred as Pakistan Army on Saturday morning initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of mortars thus violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan Army fired unprovoked on routine Indian Army patrol, around 700 metres inside Indian territory, defence spokesman here said.
He said, "In the exchange of fire, Rifleman Bikas Gurung was grievously injured and later, succumbed to his injuries."
Rifleman Bikas Gurung (21) belonged to Village Khunka Khuki, Manipur and is survived by his mother Beana May Gurung. (UNI)
