Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to Sardar Patel and said, the late leader is a unique inspiration for all and he pioneered the integration of the country.

In a series of tweets, Mr Shah said, “He was truly a Bharat Ratna, who not only played an important role in independence but also pioneered the integration of the country”.

“Motivated by Sardar Patel’s ideals and iron leadership, the Modi-led central government has created a safe and strong India in the last five years by eliminating corruption, casteism and appeasement”, he tweeted in Hindi.

Honouring Patel, the Prime Minister was unveiled the ‘The Statue of Unity, a 182-meter tall statue of Patel’ in Gujarat in 2018.
