PM Modi announces 21-day national lockdown to combat COVID19 transit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a three-week national lockdown for people, in an attempt to contain the rapid spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.Effective from midnight tonight, there will be a complete lockdown across the country, he said.

"The only way to protect us from coronavirus is not to cross the Lakshman Rekha of our homes," the PM said in a national broadcast this evening as he outlined the need to stay indoors and stop the infectionfrom spreading further.

Terming the next 21 days as most urgent, he stressed that the lockdown was must to save lives.(UNI)
