New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune to inaugurate various projects on Thursday was cancelled amid heavy rain in the city.
He was supposed to inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate to the nation various projects worth over Rs 22,600 crore.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed the development and cited the heavy rain forecast for the city as the reason.
He was also scheduled to flag off Metro train and inaugurate a high-performance computing system tailored for weather and climate research.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune reported more than 130 mm of rainfall on Wednesday, and more showers are expected on Thursday.
