PM Modi to meet Danish PM Mette Frederiksen, take forward Green Strategic Partnership

Copenhagen/New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday travels to Copenhagen, on his first visit to Denmark, where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to take forward the unique bilateral Green Strategic Partnership.

The meeting between PM Modi and his Danish counterpart will be the third summit level interaction between them. The discussions are to focus on bilateral issues, as well as issues of regional and global interest.

The two PMs are to also interact with the business leaders of both countries under the auspices of India-Denmark Business Forum. PM Modi would also call on Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, who will also host an official dinner for the Prime Minister.

Later, the Prime Minister will interact with the members of the Indian diaspora during a community event. The focus of the partnership between India and Denmark would focus on the Green Strategic Partnership, which focuses on renewable energy, sustainability and green growth.

The two sides also have a joint action plan for five years, focusing on the green partnership, with ongoing cooperation in the field of wind energy, water management, circular economy, shipping and smart cities.

The PM's visit will be an opportunity to take forward new elements of partnership in the field of skill development, shipping, agri technology and mobility.

On May 4, the PM will take part in the 2nd India-Nordic Summit along with the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Sweden and Norway to take stock of the bilateral cooperation since the First India-Nordic Summit in 2018.

The Summit will focus on subjects like post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change, innovation and technology, renewable energy, the evolving global security scenario and India-Nordic cooperation in the Arctic region. (UNI)
