Police foil sit-in protest by separatists; detains Mirwaiz, Malik

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday foiled a sit-in protest by Separatists in Srinagar and detained several leaders, including moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik.

Scores of separatist leaders and activists led by Mirwaiz and Malik tried to take out a protest march from Abi Guzar to Lal Chowk against alleged high-handedness of security forces in south Kashmir and detention and plight of hundreds of Kashmiris languishing in different jails in the state. (UNI)
