Post-Covid Ayurvedic medicine market has grown by 50 to 90 %

New Delhi: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Friday that post-Covid, Ayurveda has gained global acceptance and its market in the country is growing at a rate of 50 to 90 percent.
The Minister made the observation during the Patanjali's release of Coronil, the official medicine of Corona. Dr Vardhan said that before the Corona period, the business of Ayurvedic medicines was growing at a rate of 15 to 20 per cent which is no at 50 to 90 per cent.Before the pandemic, the total annual turnover of Ayurvedic companies in the country was Rs 30,000 crore.
 
Due to the increasing acceptance of Ayurvedic medicines in the world, its business is increasing leading to a huge surge in exports as well.While stressing on the establishment of Ayurveda in a modern scientific way, Dr Vardhan said that this will benefit the entire world.
 
The World Health Organization has duly recognized Ayurveda and it is regularly acknowledged in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, Mauritius, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Hungary etc, he stated.The Ayurvedic doctor of India can start his practice in New Zealand after clearing an exam.
 
Referring to the functioning of the Ministry of AYUSH, the Minister said that during Corona, 109 studies were conducted at 140 places on health related matters, while 32 studies have been conducted for treatment, the results of which are encouraging.(UNI)
