Pune: Pune division of Central Railway has earned Rs 59.09 lakh from 14,630 cases of ticketless and irregular travellers and unbooked luggage in July 2024.
During ticket checking on Pune division, 13167 passengers were found travelling without ticket in last month and a fine of Rs 53.71 lakh was collected from them.
Along with this, a fine of Rs 4.98 lakh was imposed on 1234 passengers travelling irregularly and without proper tickets.
A fine of Rs 28,610 was collected from 219 passengers carrying unbooked luggage.
The action has been taken under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey and in coordination with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirve and with the cooperation of Ticket Checking Inspectors and Railway Protection Force.
Ticket checking is being done regularly by the Railway Administration.
Passengers are requested to travel only with proper tickets , otherwise they will have to pay fine as per the Railway Act and in case of non-payment, they may also be punished with imprisonment, a Railway release said on Friday.
