Pune: Retired police officer's son beaten to death; woman, minor boy among 5 arrested

Pune: The city police have arrested five people, including a woman and a minor boy, in connection with alleged murder of Vijay Dhume, the son of a retired police officer.

Dhume was brutally beaten to death with an iron rod and a wooden stick in the parking lot of Quality lodge and Dawat Hotel on Friday, police said and informed that they arrested the five accused, within 36 hours of murder, on Sunday.

During investigation, the Sinhagad Road Police scoured through close circuit CCTV camera footages of the area and learned that deceased Dhume had an affair with one woman, Sujata Dhamal.

A thorough investigation of Sujata revealed that she played games with Dhume with help of her new boyfriend Sandeep Tupe and his accomplices.

With help of technical analysis, the names of other suspects were revealed.

Police have registered the case against accused Sandip Dashrath Tupe and others for murder. (UNI)
