Quake jolts Afghan-Tajikistan border, tremors felt in Delhi NCR

New Delhi: Tremors were felt in the national capital and the NCR region and the northern states of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, after an earthquake struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said here.

The quake, measured at 6.2 on the Richter scale, hit the Afghanistan-Tajikistan region at around 1236 hrs, while tremors were felt in Delhi and NCR, at around 1240 hrs.The epicentre of the earthquake was located at 37.4 degrees North Latitude and 69.6 degrees East Longitude, having a depth of 190 km, the Met official said.However, there were no reports any damage, as yet, he added.(UNI)
