Rajnath calls up Kerala CM, says 'political violence' not acceptable

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today spoke to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding recent incidents of "political violence" in the state and directed him to ensure that perpetrators of violence are brought to justice quickly. According to official sources, Mr Singh told the Chief Minister and the Marxist leader, Mr Vijayan, that "political violence is unacceptable in a democracy".
 

The Home Minister's tele talks with the Chief Minister of the southern state comes amid frequent reports of violence between CPI-M and RSS cadres in the CPI-M ruled state. One RSS leader was recently attacked in the state, sources said, later he died. The BJP has called for a statewide bandh today, During the telephonic talk, the Home Minister "expressed concern" about the law and order situation in the state. "I expect that the political violence in Kerala is curbed and that the perpetrators are brought to justice expeditiously," Mr Singh later wrote in a tweet. (UNI)
