Restore encroached temple properties: Hindu Munnai urges TN, Pondy Govts

Puducherry: Hindu Munnani Tamil Nadu President K Subramanian on Saturday urged TN and Puducherry governments to restore the encroached temple properties alleged by several political leaders.
 
Talking to news persons on the sidelines of the Executive Committee meeting of the Hindu Munnani TN and Puducherry here, Mr Subramanian demanded that the liquor shops near 50 temples in Puducherry be removed.
 
He also condemned the demolition of Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu and demanded that the governments should follow the directions of the Madras High Court that the revenue of temples be utilized for festivals, Kumbabishekams and also for the expenses of the temple workers.
Temples in Tamil Nadu are having six lakh acres of land and of which 50,000 acres are missing.
 
Several political party leaders had encroached it ,he alleged, adding that their names be published and the property retrieved from their possession.
 
Mr Subramanian also said that several foreigners are staying in Tamil Nadu illegally which will pave way for terrorism in TN and Puducherry and steps be taken to set things right.It has been decided to erect Vinayagar statue at 125 places in Tamil Nadu and 500 places in Puducherry, he said and demanded that the Christian priest George Ponniah who allegedly abused Hindus and Prime Minister Narendra Modi be booked under ‘Goondas Act’.(UNI)
