, Saturday, 9 June 2018 (10:44 IST)
Jammu: Asserting that directives have been issued to the state governments to ensure that illegal immigrants shall not obtain any document to claim their citizenship rights, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said Rohingyas belong to Burma(Myanmar) and have to be deported.
"We have told the governments across the country to get biometrics and other details of Rohingyas while directions are also issued to ensure that illegal immigrants shall not obtain any documents, which later help them to claim citizenship right of the country," Mr Singh told mediapersons here on Friday evening at a press conference before wrapping up his two-day visit to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said, "Rohingyas belong to Burma and they have to go back," adding, "once the exercise of assembling data shall be completed, it will be submitted to the Union External Ministry for further sharing it with the Burma Government so that they (Rohingyas) can be deported".

However, on India-Pakistan relations, the Home Minister said, "India wants peace with Pakistan being a neighbour.""We want good relations with all our neighbours but Pakistan has to take the lead and show some positive signs," said the Union Minister.

"The soil in Pakistan is being used for perpetuating terrorism and they are pushing terrorists in Kashmir to disturb peace. Pakistan has to stop all this to initiate peace talks," he added.

Mr Singh however, on Kashmir situation said five Cs formula? Compassion, Communication, Co-Existence, Confidence-building and Consistency, somehow achieved success to establish the basis of a permanent solution to unrest in Jammu and Kashmir."Situation has improved in Kashmir," he added and said, "there is a huge difference in Kashmir valley during my visit. People are freely moving. Around 5,000 youth attended the Sports Conclave on Thursday. These are signs of normalcy."

Mr Singh on extension to 'Ramzan ceasefire', said, "for peace loving people, month of Ramadan is scared and to respect their sentiment, we announced ceasefire but as far as future is concerned, before taking the decision of extending it, security situation will be reviewed thoroughly."

Mr Singh also said, ''India presently is a powerful nation.''"Pakistan suffered major damage than India during retaliatory action by our security forces across the border responded on ceasefire violations,'' he said.On talks with separatists in Kashmir, he said, "we are willing to hold dialogue with everyone and I have already said we want 'right-minded' people to be involved into talks than 'like-minded'."(UNI)
