New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the probe agencies -- CBI and ED -- to complete all the cases relating to the 2G Spectrum scam case in six months and asked to file a status report within two weeks regarding the progress of the case. A Bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Arun Mishra, came down heavily on the probe agencies for not completing the investigation and asked to complete all the cases relating to the 2G spectrum scam case in six months. The top court called it "shocking" that despite its monitoring, the probe in the 2G spectrum scam case was still not over. "Country must know... people can't be kept in dark. It is a very serious matter," the apex court observed.

Presently, the CBI and ED are probing the only Aircel-Maxis case arising out of the 2G spectrum scam allocation. Karti Chidambaram, son of Ex Finance Minister P Chidmbaram, is facing investigation regarding FIPB approval to this. The top court also asked all the probe agencies to file a status report within two weeks regarding the case progress in the matter. In the meanwhile, Tushar Mehta will remain as the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) in the 2G spectrum scam case. The court on Monday let Mr Anand Grover relinquish charge. It also dismissed the contempt petition filed against the government for appointing Mehta as the SPP. (UNI)
