Senior Kanchi Acharya Jayendra Saraswathi passes away

Chennai: Senior Acharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal passed away on Wednesday.He was 83.
 

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP on Wednesday condoled the death of 69th Senior Acharya of Kanchi Sankara Mutt Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and said it was a big loss to the Hindu society.In a statement here, the RSS said 'the 69th Matadhipathi of Kanchi Sankara Mutt Pujya Shri Jayendra Saraswathi attained the lotus feet of almighty this morning at Kancheepuram.''RSS Tamilnadu condoles the passing away of the senior Matadhipathi who served for protection of Hindu dharma, Hindu culture and upliftment of the Hindu society', it said. 

'It is a great loss not only to Tamil Nadu but also to the entire Hindu society', it added.Expressing shock over the death of senior Kanchi Seer, BJP Tamil Nadu Unit President Ms Tamizhisai Soundararajan said 'we have lost a spiritual leader who had a concern for the country'.Stating that the Seer treated people of all castes equally, she said during times of oppression of the downtrodden during forcible conversion, the Seer hit the ground and stressed that the Hindu religion was not against the oppressed class by taking various welfare measures for them.

'He is not only a spiritualist, but also a nationalist and societist', she added.Ms Tamizhisai also recalled his spiritual services apart from his services to education and healthcare by founding several educational institutions and hospitals, besides serving the people apart from his spiritual deeds.The death of Kanchi Charya was a big loss to the Indian nation, she said and offered her condolences to his disciples and paid her homage.
