JDU splits, Sharad Yadav’s faction to boycott national executive meet

JDU splits, Sharad Yadav’s faction to boycott national executive meet
, Saturday, 19 August 2017 (11:55 IST)
New Delhi: The Sharad Yadav faction of JD-U will boycott the national executive meet of the party, to be held tomorrow in Patna and will organise a parallel meeting. Talking to reporters here, former JD(U) deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha Ali Anwar Ansari and sacked party general secretary Arun Shrivastav said the Sharad Yadav faction will also knock the Election Commission's door to stake claim over the party name and symbol.

Mr Shrivastav claimed that the Sharad Yadav faction was the "real JD-U" as party's 14 state presidents were with him and around six to seven of them had participated in the 'Sanjhi Virasat' event yesterday while the remaining state presidents had sent message that due to some unavoidable reason they could not participate. He said, “Nitish Kumar not only removed me from the general secretary post and Mr Ansari as party's deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha but also removed Sharad Yadav as the head of the party in the Rajya Sabha despite the fact that he was the founder president of the party".

He said they wanted to participate in the national executive meet of the party and also wanted to put their points. Since Mr Kumar removed them without giving any notice so they have decided to boycott the meet and hold a separate meeting in Patna. The rebel JD-U leader said Mr Kumar had earlier decided to hold the meet at Hotel Maurya in Patna "but when we criticised it then he shifted it to the Chief Minister's residence". Holding party's national executive meet at the CM's residence was misuse of power, he added. (UNI)
