Baramulla: A soldier allegedly committed suicide with his service rifle in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir, official sources said.
They said panic gripped Army camp at Cherkote in Kupwara when a soldier on guard duty suddenly shot himself with his service rifle on Friday. The injured soldier was immediately rushed to military hospital at Drugmulla.
However, the soldier, identified as Rifleman Ranjeet Singh, succumbed late Friday evening, they said.It was not immediately clear why the soldier took this extreme step, the sources said, adding that police has registered a case and initiated proceedings.(UNI)
