Sonipat twin bomb blasts: Life sentence for LeT bomb maker Tunda

Sonipat: A local court here on Tuesday pronounced life sentence for 75-year-old bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda in the 1996 Sonipat twin bomb blasts case.The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sushil Kumar Garg found the Lashkar-e-Taiba 'bomb expert' guilty on Monday and pronounced the quantum of punishment on Tuesday.
 

The court held Tunda guilty under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act. In September this year, Tunda had claimed in his statement in the court that he was in Pakistan at the time of the twin blasts.Tunda was named as the main accused of the twin blasts in Sonipat in 1996 - one at a cine hall and another near a sweets shops in which several persons sustained injuries.(UNI)
