Suspected militants kill a Railway policeman & labourer in Kulgam

Srinagar: A 35-year-old labourer from Bihar was killed by suspected militants in south Kashmir district of Kulgam on Friday.

Official sources said the labourer, identified as Shankar Choudhary, was critically wounded by suspected militants at Neehama in Kulgam late on Friday evening. “The injured was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” they said.

They said the gunmen managed to escape from the spot under the cover of darkness, adding security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.

The killing of the non-local comes hours after a policemen was shot dead by militants in Kulgam district.

Militants kill railway policeman in south Kashmir

Militants shot dead a Railway policeman in south Kashmir district of Kulgam Friday evening, official sources said.

They said militants fired at and critically wounded Railway police constable identified as Bunto Sharma, son of Nathji, from very close range at main chowk Wanpoh in Kulgam this evening. The injured was immediately rushed to hospital in a critical condition from where he was referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag. However, he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Security forces immediately sealed the entire area and a launched search operation.

Omar, Mehbooba, Sajad strongly condemn killing of RPF jawan in Kashmir

 Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Peoples Conference (PC) president Sajad Gani Lone strongly condemned killing of Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable by militants in south Kashmir district of Kulgam Friday evening.

Taking to micro blogging site Twitter National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar said “unequivocally condemn the militant attack in Kulgam district of South Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the family & colleagues of Constable Bantoo Sharma of Railway Protection Force who was killed in the line of duty earlier this evening. May his soul rest in peace”.

“Very sorry to hear about the terrorist attack in Kulgam today that claimed yet another innocent life. Deepest condolences & prayers with Bantoo Sharma ji’s family. May his soul rest in peace” , president Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba said in a tweet.

Former Minister Lone in a tweet said “ Strongly condemn the killing of a police man in Kulgam. May Allah give patience to the family of Bantu Sharma to bear this loss. And May the killers rot in hell”.Bunto Sharma, a jawan of RPF was shot dead by militants at Wanpoh in Kulgam district this evening.(UNI)
