Suvendu serves 72-hr ultimatum to Hare street police to file FIR against Mamata

Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari has served a 72-hour ultimatum to the OC of the Hare Street police station in central Kolkata to lodge an FIR against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her alleged intimidation to arrest eight BJP leaders, or else he would move court.

"I have emailed my complaint to the Officer in Charge of the Hare Street Police Station, requesting him to lodge an FIR against the Chief Minister for the comment she made yesterday ( Friday) at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

" She threatened, by taking a vow on behalf of her party, to arrest eight of our (BJP) people," the Nandigram MLA posted on his social media X after being emailed to the police on the issue on Friday night.

The former complaint specified that the chief minister's address at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Thursday, where she allegedly made remarks indicating that if four MLAs of her political party are sent to jail, she will ensure the arrest of eight individuals from the opposition party.

" As the Netaji Indoor Stadium falls under the jurisdiction of Hare Street Police Station, I have emailed my complaint to the authorities of the concerned PS. I hope the Police would take appropriate action against her for intimidation and threatening to misuse Administrative Authority. If the Police refuse to register the FIR, I will wait for 72 hours and then approach the ACJM Court requesting to take cognisance of the complaint," the Nandigram MLA said.

BJP leader Adhikari requested the OC to register a First Information Report against the chief minister and others allegedly involved in the incident citing potential violations of various sections of the Indian Penal Code,

including 182 (false information), 194 (false evidence), 195A (threatening or provoking for inducing a person to commit an offence), 211 (false charge of offence made with intent to injure), 203 (giving false information respecting an offence committed), 505(II) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred, or ill-will between classes), and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Adhikari, also pointed out his grievances and alleged that since his departure from the TMC, he has been facing various vexatious and concocted cases.He claimed that the ruling Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, has consistently promoted ill will and hatred towards him and his political party members.

"I have emailed my complaint to the Officer in Charge of the Hare Street Police Station, requesting him to lodge an FIR against the Chief Minister for the comment she made yesterday at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. She threatened, by taking a vow on behalf of her party to arrest the BJP leaders, " Adhikari, who is the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly said.(UNI)
