Hyderabad: In a significant move to promote organ donation, BRS Working President and Telangana Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday announced in the Legislative Assembly that he is willing to donate his organs.

His declaration came during a discussion on the organ donation bill in the Assembly, where he emphasised the need for public representatives to lead by example.

"We represent millions of people, and it is our duty to set an example. We must also create awareness about organ donation in our constituencies," KTR stated.

Encouraging fellow legislators to support the cause, KTR urged Speaker G Srikanth Reddy to initiate a signature campaign within the Assembly premises.

He further announced that he would be the first to sign as a witness, highlighting the significance of this humanitarian act.

"Organ donation has the power to enrich and save lives. If those in responsible positions take the initiative, it will inspire many others to follow suit," he added.

His gesture has been widely appreciated as a step toward fostering a culture of organ donation in the state.
