The long wait ends, Monsoon to splash North India in next 24 hours

Pune:Conditions continue to remain favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over Delhi, remaining sites of west Uttar Pradesh, some more tracts of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan during next 24 hours, said the Indian Meteorological Department here today.
Conditions are also becoming favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over remaining regions of the country during subsequent 48 hours.
 
The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous in Rayalaseema, and active in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, north Interior Karnataka and Kerala.
It was weak in Odisha, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, west Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
 
Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1 degree Celsius or more) at isolated places of Arunachal Pradesh.
 
They were appreciably above par (3.1 degree C to 5.0 degree C) at many corners of Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, as well at a few sectors of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad.
 
They were above norm (1.6 degree C to 3.1 degree C) at most locales of Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, east Rajasthan and Gujarat Region, as well at many nooks of west Rajasthan, at a few segments of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Odisha, west Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, at isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal, east & west Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Mahe.
 
Day temperatures were below normal (minus 1.6 degree C to minus 3.0 degree C) at many slices of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Rayalseema, as well at isolated portions of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Telangana while they were near normal over the rest of the country.
 
Thunderstorm had occurred at few quarters over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, as well at isolated stretches over west Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Saurashtra, Kutch, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttrakhand, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, north Interior Karnataka and Chhattisgarh during past 24 hours.
 
Rain or thundershowers had pounded most locations in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka, north & south Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep during the period.
 
They had pummelled many divisions in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Vidarbha, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalseema during the period.
 
They had lashed a few niches in Sub-Himalayan & Gangetic West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu during the period.
 
Isolated chunks in east & west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu-Kasmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat Region, Saurashtra and Kutch were also hit by rain during the period.
 
Dry weather prevailed over Punjab during the period.(UNI)
