TRAGIC! Young woman falls as bike hits pothole, run over by lorry in Chennai

Chennai: In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old woman, who was riding pillion on her brother's bike was run over by a lorry after she fell when the bike hit a pothole filled with rain water at Thirumangalam area near Annanagar in the city late on Friday night.

The accident took place around midnight when the duo were returning home in the bike.

Venkatesh was riding the bike with her sister Hemamalini on the pillion. He did not notice the pothole which was filled with water due to heavy rains last night.

As the bike hit the pothole, both of them fell in different directions, when a speeding lorry ran over Hemamalini, killing her on the spot in front of her brother's eyes, while Venkatesh sustained injuries.

Police rushed to the spot and shifted Hemamalini's body to government hospital for autopsy, while her brother admitted to hospital for treatment.
