Motihari: A bridge being constructed at an expenditure of Rs 2 crore in Bihar's East Champaran district, has suddenly collapsed - the third such incident reported from the state in a week, official sources said on Sunday.
The sources said the casting of the 40-feet-long bridge on Amwan Kundwa Chandpur Road under the Ghodasahan block was done on Saturday. It caved in a few hours later in the night.
No one was reportedly injured in this accident.
As it is, this is the third bridge that has given way within a week in Bihar. Earlier reports of bridge collapse came in from Araria and Siwan districts.
In Araria, a portion of a bridge being constructed at an expenditure of Rs 12 crore on the Bakra river had collapsed on Tuesday whereas a bridge on Gandak river canal in Ramgarha Panchayat of Daraunda block in Siwan district caved in on Saturday.
