Lucknow: Ruling BJP drubbed the divided opposition in Uttar Pradesh assembly byelections by winning 6 seats of the total 7, while Samajwadi Party managed to retain one seat.
The BJP won 6 seats with bigger margin compared to the 2017 assembly elections.
Four cornered contest in the bypolls benefited the ruling BJP as all the three opposition parties - SP, BSP and Congress candidates have got sufficient votes to divide the opposition votes.
With this win, the total strength of the BJP in the UP assembly goes up to 310 in the house of 403 while of SP it goes up to 49.
UP Chief minister Yogi Adityanath termed the win of the party in UP as well as in Bihar showcases "Modi hai to mumkin hai’ (When it is Modi, it is possible). “Under the PM's guidance the saffron party has performed exceptionally well in the Bihar elections and the by-polls across India,” Yogi said while addressing reporters here.
He said that election trends of Bihar and other states where bye-elections were held have negated the speculations about BJP’s performance. The results have once again proved that Modi hai to mumkin hai.
“PM has taken India to height on global platforms. What the Modi Government did for the poor during the crisis has got approval from people in this election. People’s love for BJP by voting in its favour is an indirect approval to the policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is aimed at uplifting the poor and deprived section of the society,” he said and added that these results have only further strengthened the people's faith in the Prime Minister.
According to officials, BJP candidates won the Bulandshahr, Tundla, Ghatampur, Deoria, Naugawan Sadat and Bangarmau seats while SP won the Malhani seat.
As per the Election Commission figure, the BJP received a vote share of 36.7 per cent in this bypolls in 7 seats followed by 23.6 per cent by SP, 19 per cent by BSP, 7.5 per cent by Congress and 11.4 per cent by others.The bypolls witnessed keen contest in Mahlani and Naugawan Sadat seats where the leads changed frequently.
Javed Abbas of SP, who was leading in the morning was taken over by Sangeeta Chauhan of BJP in Naugawan Sadat seat in Amroha . Later Sangeeta again trailed for some time but later managed to win the seat by a margin of 15077 votes. Sangeeta is the widow of former UP minister and Cricketer Chetan Chauhan, who recently died due to Corona which led to the bypolls.
In Bulandshahr, BJP's Usha Sirohi defeated her nearest BSP candidate Mohammad Yunus by 21701 votes while in Tundla seat, BJP's Prempal Singh Dhangar defeated SP's Maharaj Singh Dhangar by 17,683 votes.
In Bangarmau seat, BJP candidate Shrikant Katiyar beat Congress candidate Ms Arti Bajpai by 31,398 votes and in Ghatampur seat BJP candidate Upendra Nath Paswan defeated Dr Kripa Shanker of Congress by over 23,820 votes.
In Deoria seat, BJP candidate Dr Satya Prakash Mani Tripathi trounced his nearest SP candidate Brahmashankar Tripathi by 20089 votes while SP candidate Lucky Yadav beat his nearest Independent candidate and former MP Dhananjay Singh by 4623 votes.
BJP wins three seats, Independent one in Manipur bypoll
Imphal: BJP has won three seats and Independent won a seat out of the four Assembly seats where bypoll were held on Nov 7 last. The victors included O Lukhoi, Minister Agriculture from Wangoi, former Minister Ngamthang Haokip from Saitu, P Brojen from Wangjing Tentha. All
three were re-elected as candidates of BJP after they resigned from Congress.
Md Abdul Nasir was the only former MLA who was defeated. He had resigned from Congress and contested as Independent supported by BJP. Oinam Lukhoi Singh of Bharatiya Janata Party won the Wangoi assembly bypoll by a margin of 257 votes. He got 10960 while his nearest rival Khuraijam Loken Singh of National People's Party got 10703 . Salam Joy Singh of Indian National Congress got 5591.
Y Antas, Independent defeated Md Abdul Nasir, Ind supported by BJP by a margin
of 3078 votes. Antas got 17106 while Nasir got 14028 votes. Md Azizul of Congress
got just 142 votes.Paonam Brojen Singh of BJP defeated his nearest rival Moirangthem Hemanta ofINC by 1560 votes. Brojen got 15147 while Hemanta got 13587. S Manaobi, Ind got
328 votes.
Ngamthang Haokip of BJP won the Saitu Assembly defeating his nearest rivalLamtinthang Haokip of INC by a margin of votes 12144 votes.Ngamthang got 24394 while Lamtinthang got 12250.
Dr. Lamtinthang Haokip, said he was compelled to convey his words of Congratulations
to Pu Ngamthang Haokip, for winning the numbers.He added, the result though, was expected as undue and conceded the defeat, not aspeople’s mandate, rather the mandate of money and muscle power.
Counting began at 0800 hours and the EVMs were brought out from the strong rooms.
Postal ballots were counted in a separate room.
The final polling percentage was recorded to be 94.90 percent in Wangoi, Lilong recorded
a turnout of 93.3 per cent while Wangjing Tentha recorded 92.3 per cent. Saitu recorded
91.59 per cent which was marred with alleged denial of Congress supporters to come out
and arrest of Congress candidate’s agent on the day of election.
Congress leading in two, BJP, Ind in one each
Imphal:Congress was leading by a narrow margin inWangoi and Wangjing Tentha, while BJP was leading in Saitu as the first phase of counting was completed.
Independent candidate Mohd Antas was leading comfortably from BJP candidate in Lilong so far. The figure was changing rapidly as the counting process has not completed.
The counting processes were continuing amid tight security in three separate places for four Assembly segments.
Jharkhand Bypolls: JMM's Basant Soren wins Dumka, Jaimangal Singh of Congress elected from Bermo
Dumka/Bokaro:The ruling parties of Mahagathbandhan including Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the Congress held on to their respective seats of Dumka and Bermo results of which were declared on Tuesday.
In Dumka (ST) Basant Soren of the JMM defeated his nearest rival Dr Lois Marandi by
a margin of 6,842 votes. Basant Soren got a total of 80,559 votes while Dr Lois Marandi
got 73,717 votes.
In Dumka total of 19 rounds of counting was held out of which in 18 rounds the votes of
the EVM was counted while in the 19th round VVPAT Slips were counted. The people who
opted for NOTA in Dumka stood at 3,665.
In Bermo Jaimangal Singh of the Congress defeated his nearest rival Yogeshwar Mahto
Batul of the BJP by a margin of 14,225 votes. Jaimangal got a total of 94,022 votes while
Batul got 79,797 votes.
In Bermo a total of 18 rounds of counting was held out of which for 17 rounds counting
of votes in the EVM machine was done while in the 18th round VVPAT slips were counted.
The number of people who opted for NOTA stood at 2,108.
The bypolls on these two seats was held on November 3. Polling was necessitated on
these two seats as Hemant Soren who had won from Barhet and Dumka resigned from
Dumka and took oath as the member of the house from Barhet seat while Bermo seat
fell vacant following the demise of senior Congress leader Rajendra Singh.
BJP wrests Dubbaka Assembly seat from ruling TRS in byelection
Hyderabad: In a keenly contested byelection to the Dubbaka Assembly constituency in Telangana the Bharatiya Janata Party wrested the seat from the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Tuesday.BJP candidate M Raghunandan Rao defeated his closest rival S.Sujatha of the TRS by a margin of 1,479 votes.
Mr Rao secured 62,772 votes while Ms.Sujatha polled 61,302 votes.The Congress Candidate Cheruku Srinivas Reddy obtained 21,819 votes securing third place in the closely fought race.
The votes polled in the November 3 bypoll was counted in 23 rounds and right from round one the victorious BJP maintained its lead in most of the rounds.Joyous scenes were witnessed in many parts of the state including at the BJP's state headquarters in Hyderabad with the party leaders bursting into song, dance and crackers to celebrate the party's victory in Dubbaka.
TRS working President and Minister K.T.Rama Rao said ''the result was not as per the wishes of the party though we all worked to win.''
BJP clean sweeps Gujarat bypolls
Gandhinagar:The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday won all the eight seats, which went for bypolls last week, the Election Commission data showed.The principal opposition Indian National Congress drew a blank, reducing its number of MLAs to 65, while the strength of BJP rose to 109 in the 182-member House.
The Congress MLAs from Abdasa, Limbdi, Dhari, Gadhada, Karjan, Dangs, Kaprada and Morbi constituencies had resigned in the middle of this year, before the Rajya Sabha polls.
Five of them later joined the BJP and contested on the saffron party ticket.The bypolls were seen as a litmus test for BJP new state president C R Patil, under whose leadership, Gujarat will go for polls in 2022.
BJD wins Balasore Assembly seat and all set to win Tirtol by a huge margin
Bhubaneswar:The ruling BJD today won the Balasore Sadar and theTirtol (SC) Assembly seats also by defeating their nearest rival BJP candidates in the by-election.
The BJD wrested the Balasore seat and all set to retain the Tirtol seat.The Congressparty fared miserably and relegated to the third position in both Balasore and Tirtol.In Balasore the BJD candidate Swarup Das won the seat by defeating his nearestrival Manas Kumar Dutta by a margin of 13,395 votes.
Though the Election Commission has not yet announced the result but the dataavailable on the official website said BJD’s Swarup Das secured 82,810 votesagainst 69,415 votes polled by his nearest rival Manas Kumar Dutta of BJP.Mr Dutta is the son of former BJP MLA late Madan Mohan Dutta whose demiseled to the bypoll.
Ms Mamata Kundu of Congress has secured only 4,901 votes.and finished in third position. Total 6 candidates including 3 independents were in fray in the by election for the Balasore Sadar constituency .
In Tirtol, Bijay Shankar Das of BJD is leading by 40,697 votes over his nearest rival Raj Kishore Behera of BJP in the by election after 29 round of counting and is all set to win.
While Bijay Shankar Das (BJD) polled 86797 votes, Raj Kishore Behera secured 46,100 votes after 29th round of counting,
Mr Himanshu Mallick of Congress finished a poor third securing only 28,357 votes. As many as nine candidates including five Independents were in the fray for the Tirtol Assembly seat.
Karnataka BJP won both RR Nagar and Sira seat
